It's a good one. They're all good ones, but this one actually has goodness in its name. An aspiring baker took her passion to the classroom and earned her pastry chef degree. With a little help from the city of Detroit, she and her partner are paying it forward in a very tasty way. The name Great Cakes must have been taken because a new sweet spot in Detroit open for about a year run by two women is called Good Cakes in Bakes. Pastry chef April Anderson and her partner got started on grants and city programs, but with their own baking power and prowess earned a spot here on Livernoy. And in January 2015, we started actually baking here in the bakery. Good Cakes in Bakes takes the cake on making sweet treats good for you. Well, at least better for you and that s Homemade organic all fresh baked goods. This baked goodness oasis makes small batches of cakes, muffins, cookies, breads and pies every day. And they're able to keep costs down. The growing interest in organic keeps the cost of buying bulk organic ingredients down. Chef April says Good Cakes in Bakes has original, family and borrowed and enhanced recipes of cinnamon rolls, brownie bars, cheesecakes and of course cupcakes. Banana pudding, a red velvet and either a vanilla or chocolate sautu00e9 caramel. Those are staple items that have to be here every day. Organic small batches ensure every item has the same high quality every day. Good Cakes in Bakes has an organic approach to their organic bakery. You can taste everything in each ingredient in the product. That's what we want you to get when we come here. And throw in a dash of a secret ingredient that not enough of us are biting into. When you bake from scratch, people get to taste all of your love. So if I'm tasting that love, it's making me feel love. Are you kidding? This is amazing. It smells It does. It smells So let me show you what the ladies brought in from Good Cakes in Bakes. Let'start with their triple chocolate cake. How beautiful is that? Oh my gosh. A piece already cut out. Cut out. Beautiful. Right next to that over here we've got the vegan oatmeal baked cookies. So we mentioned their vegan carrot cake, but they also have these cookies down in front. We've got the brownies and walnuts right next to the lemon. I don't even know what to taste. Lemon blueberry. How awesome does this one look here though? The southern caramel cake. It's gorgeous. I want to see what it looks Right next to that one, seven up pound cake. Seven up. They use seven up in their ingredients. Wow. They're all in the same bowl. Wait, what's this one? I think it's just the seven up pound cake already cut. There you go. Yeah. Couple of different pound cakes, but they're, we've got. . . Is there seven up in this? I'm not sure which one you have over there, but there's a plate over there that has a few squares on it. And they've got the gooey butter cake squares and some cheesecake as well. Mmm, cheesecake.
