Get the scoop on all things Graeter's!!
Passionate people produce the best products. When modern technology came to ice cream, Regina Graeter stubbornly refused to change. Still family owned, Graeter’s is now the last ice cream still crafted in French Pots, just 2½ gallons at a time. Stop by and try for a scoop for yourself.
When you first try Grader's ice cream, the thing that you'll notice is the difference in the texture, the mouth feel. It's really creamy, dense, and it's very un And Grader's first taste, We use a French pot process, which really is a lost art. The French pot process manufactures ice cream in very small batches, so we just make ice cream two and a half gallons at a time, which is exactly the same way my great-grandparents made it over a hundred years ago. How we survived over a hundred years is we've stayed true to our process and our product. You're not going to get the same product out of a different type of freezer operation. And it's that small batch process that yields a very special result. To be an authentic craft brand, you really need three things. It's people, process, and passion. So there really needs to be people behind the product. And for us, it's the Grader family. We are not a marketing plan. We really are a family and that cares about the product. And of course, there's the process. You need an artisanal craft process to make an artisanal craft product. I mean, that seems kind of obvious, but it's lost on a lot of people. And typically that means you're making product in very small batches. And then finally, there's the passion. Because if you don't have a passion for what you do, for that craftsmanship, you're not going to invest the time and the process and you won't have that quality of product. So it's really those three things together. People process passion that make a truly authentic craft brand. And I think probably every generation makes that commitment to uphold the quality. We could cheapen it. There's no question. We could make it less expensive. We could buy chocolate that's not as good for the chocolate chips. We could buy strawberries that are not the best. We buy the best fruit. But we, every generation, makes a commitment to upholding that quality. We've stayed relevant and stayed in business because we've been true to our product and our process. We have not changed it. It'still dense, smooth, creamy ice cream with big soft chips that our customers have grown to know and love. We have a product that's differentiated that's different than what you're going to get from anywhere else. And everybody's looking for something unique and we have that. Passion comes through at graders in several ways. Passion, most obviously, is the dedication to the French pot process. We could make ice cream differently. We could make it cheaply, but we don't. We stick to the French pot freezer method. Passion comes through in people and making sure that you find the right people who have that dedication to the artisan method to make the product. Because every batch of graders' ice cream is made by a person standing there loving it from cream into ice cream. Passion comes through in our retail stores because at our retail stores we So when you come in, you feel welcome and you want to stay and enjoy the ice cream with your family. All those things really come together to make a passionate brand experience
