Mission Bungalow started in 1995 in beautiful Raleigh, North Carolina as an idea. Hello, I'm Leon Tuberman and I'm here today to show you this bungalow style mission diamond set. It's made of solid Siberian white oak, seats comfortably six people without the leaves, and when both leaves are inserted into the table, seats ten comfortably. This chair has amazing details, very true to some of the designs of Charles Rennie Macintosh. It has the cross, the cross bracing in the back. It has three quarter inch solid oak squared out pins in the cross joints. It has a lovely mission with brown tones, lightly distressed finish. It is available either with a solid oak seat or you can get a fabric or leather seat. Note the massive solid oak arm where the front leg post extends through the seat up to the arm and then through tenon through the arm. Note the front leg post coming through the seat and then through the arm to be an exposed tenon in the top of the arm. These are the three quarter inch genuine oak dowel pins that are on the cross stretchers and this is the mortise and tenon joint for the back brace. Please note the tall and tapered and curved for comfort back rail. Also note the consistent detail of the legs and back post being wider at the base than the top. That taper is another classic detail. Please note the figure jointed corner brackets that are glued in place and screwed with bolts that bolt through the corner brace into the leg which adds to the strength of the mortise and tenons from the cross rails. This is a very, very sturdy chair. This bungalow table is 46 by 72 with two 18 inch leaves and opens to a full 108 inches. It also utilizes a ball bearing cable pulley system that is among the easiest and most durable mechanisms for opening and closing a table that has ever been developed. You'll note how the leaves self store within the table. Both leaves store inside the table so you don't have to find another place to keep the leaf either under the bed or in the closet which is not necessarily the best place to store a leaf because of moisture. The cable pulley ball bearing slide which is used on this table is a new innovation which is a tremendous improvement over the old fashioned wood on wood and the new slide systems. They operate very, very smoothly, very, very easily and will last a lifetime. You will note on the base of this table it matches the detail with the cross bracing to the detail that's on the chair. In addition it has the tapered legs that also matches that detail. So that theme is throughout the set. This set has many of the design features of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. It's made of superb quality solid oak and is made with all the construction details that will assure a table set that will last you at least as long as you grow the trees that this table set is made of.
