Arrowhead is the manifestation of a passion for quality craftsmanship and design. Drawing from a wealth of reclaimed and locally available materials, from barn deconstructions to milling our own timber lot, we construct custom furniture that honors the character and spirit of the South. Focusing on wood, metal, and leather, Arrowhead’s fabrications take many forms, all of which intend to capture the simple beauty of available materials. Justin and Matthew began collaborating in another medium altogether, Justin a chef, Matthew a farmer. After working together on the aesthetics of cuisine, they expanded the conversation, eventually focusing on furniture design. A hobby became an obsession, and Arrowhead was born. Please feel free to inquire about custom matters.
Here's my finds from Chatham County, North Carolina, June 2021. First we got this nice quartzite blade snapped off the top. Looks It's pretty thin. I don't know what to call it, Savannah River? I think Savannah River's normally will have concave base though. Not sure. Here's a nice blade. It'snapped off. It's almost a uniface. There'still some work along the edge so it was resharpened. There's a preform. Got to work all along it. All along that edge. The weird thing is the bottom of it has I don't even know what's going on with that. It's Guys, let me know what you think. It's really strange. Then I got this projectile point, the tip of one at least. Then here's a, what do they call it, shoulder gilford or a y Work on both sides. It's pretty crude. Then we got, actually, a better one. A little tip thing. This is why they call them shoulder gilfords. They got that little shoulder there. No one really knows why they have them. Nice edge on both sides. Pretty prominent base. Pretty good base thinning right there. It's called basal thinning. Then right here, found this couple miles away from this site on the Hall River. It's made out of this bluish green shirt. I don't know what material it is but it's pretty. It's probably pretty old. It's got a lot of water wear on it. That's about it.
