Ethan Allen was an American revolutionary and political leader born in 1738 in Litchfield, Connecticut. He is best known as one of the leaders of the Green Mountain Boys, a group of settlers in what is now Vermont who fought against British rule and established the independence of Vermont as a state. Allen was raised in a family with strong ties to the American colonies and was heavily influenced by his father's political views.
