Up The Creek Designs, LLC

We bring reclaimed wine barrels back to life in the form of one of a kind, custom designed & hand made furniture and home decor.

Up the Creek Designs is a collaboration of Timothy Glover and Katherine Glover a husband and wife team. Timothy is a life long resident of John's Island South Carolina. Timothy has over 30 years experience as a Master Woodworker. Timothy's desire to spend a lifetime as a Master Woodworker began as a child watching his Father build and race wooden motor boats. These boats to a young man were a sight to behold, locals to the island remember Tux Glover and his race boats. This skill has been passed down through Timothy's family. Katherine is a native of Virginia, she attended the Charleston Institute of Art in Charleston, South Carolina. Together they make an amazing team. Using their skills and talents they have created wonderful items using reclaimed wine barrels. Each piece is an original work of fine craftsmanship. The barrels are comprised of American White Oak from the United States, or European White Oak from France. Each barrel has it's own markings and characteristics as well as it's individual patina from the wine aging process. These markings and patina are incorporated into the design of each piece. The weight and measurements of each piece may vary slightly based on the type of wood used in the original barrel. Together at their home workshop; Timothy and Katherine break down the barrels, sand off the sugar residue from the aging wine process, and add mineral oil to preserve the patina created by the wine. The work then begins to build one of their original designs. Owning an item from Up the Creek Designs is owning a piece totally handmade from John's Island South Carolina. Bringing the relaxed lifestyle of living on a Creek in the Low Country into your own home. Up the Creek Designs has been awarded a Certificate of Authenticity by the City of Charleston South Carolina.
