I started standupdesks. com in 1995 with just three or four models to start with. And over the years, we expanded our line to where today we have 44 different models. And each one of those models is available in a wide range of sizes, widths, lengths, depth, and of course height. Each person needs to have their desk custom made to their particular height. We have women that are four foot two and we have men that are six foot nine that order desks from us and everybody in between. So you want your standup desk to be at elbow height. So as a reading desk here, you would have it where your elbow is perpendicular to the floor. The nice thing about this reading desk is that you can bring your reading materials up close to eye level so you're not hanging your head down when you'reading. You're looking straight ahead and that eliminates any neck strain. That was the reason why we designed these reading desks. People who have degenerative disc disease in their neck and looking down for prolonged periods of time aggravate the condition. Having a standup desk or reading desk We can make it high enough for you that you're always looking straight ahead. This particular model is available Our smallest is two feet wide and our longest is four in this model. Many of our models go up to seven feet in length and all of our models are available in a wide variety of wood species. Our base wood is red oak. Our next level up from red oak is brown maple which is very similar to cherry and only 10% more than red oak where cherry is 30% more. We also offer rustic cherry which is some people some furniture companies in stores call it character cherry because it has a little bit more character. This is character cherry where you see it's got a little bit of a knot holes in it and some people So I personally do but if you get the regular cherry it does not have any of those flaws. If you want to call them flaws they're natural to the wood but in fine furniture they're not used. It's one level below just one level below the highest grade. If you visit our stains page you'll see that each one of our desks comes not only in a wide range of different woods but you can get dozens of different color choices stain choices to match your current decor. A lot of my customers will send me a picture of what they're working with what they currently have and I'll send them a sample in the mail to show them what I have. It's what I think it's a close fit and most of the time I'm able to hit the nail right on the head. If you need it custom matched you have to send us something so that we can send to the stain formulator to create the perfect match for you and that's an upcharge of a few hundred dollars but we guarantee the match will be perfect.
