Interesting things happen when people really get to know each other. Partnerships form and businesses get started. Exhibitions get planned and uncharted places are explored. Life even gets tastier. Two groups in Boston, a co-working pioneer and an interdisciplinary economic development organization walk into a bar. No, strike that. This is no joke. Two groups in Boston, a co-working pioneer and interdisciplinary economic development organization, were both inspired by this guy, Bob Krim, who wrote this report on why Boston has been a hotbed of innovation for the last 400 years. One of his key conclusions was theory of b Linked by Bob's theories on innovation drivers, both groups really get to know each other. They plan a joint offering. They launch a Boston workplace exchange. They have some fun doing it and add some more b With the exchange, established businesses offer extra space in their offices to area new companies. They aren't opening their doors to random or even LinkedIn friends coming to work for the day. Instead, they offer us to dedicated startup teams whom they plan over the upcoming weeks and months to really get to know. The market efficiencies are immediate. Hosts get compensation for unused space. Startups get prime, dedicated office space for a bargain and all get access to the work bar and BWP, integrating both the host and the startup group into these established interdisciplinary networks. Beyond the financial and real estate efficiencies, possible partnerships will be formed, possible introductions will be made, possibly nothing will happen, except more people will really get to know each other better. For our South by South with panel, we've amassed the work bar and BWP team responsible for starting the exchange, along with Jeff Moriarty from the Boston Globe, to layer in the real deal on what's happening in Boston. And remember this guy, Robert Crimm, currently teaching MBAs at Clark University. Join us for the discussion centered around the exchange and the info you'll need to take its concepts back to your organization.
