Sometimes when I'm sweeping in front of my storefront, I just feel like such a shopkeep from, Katie and I joined forces in, I think it was 2008. She had already had her wholesale business bakery here in Portland. I opened it in 2000. Jennifer wanted to have a sandwich shop and she had a lot of experience in front of the house operations. Rather than her go and rent another space, let's maximize what we have here. When the building came up for sale, we just thought that owning it allows you the freedom to continue as long as you want and still be part of the neighborhood. Challenges to buying the building were economic. We had to get very creative and make a partnership with our friend and neighbor. He had a relationship with Seaport prior. He reached out immediately. Seaport helped us navigate what we thought was going to be a really challenging purchase. It turned out not to be at all. Often think how grateful I am that I'm able as a woman to own my own business. Doing it with Katie and my sister, we just trust each other, we compliment each other. I love that part of it.
