Just Cupcakes

You can do more than wear pink to support breast cancer awareness this week. You can also eat some pink cupcakes to explain how is Carla Hasseltine owner and chief cupcake baking diva from just cupcakes. And let's talk about these cupcakes first because they're so small you can eat a couple of them at once and not feel guilty. Oh sure, sure we recommend that absolutely. Let's talk about the message though. Behind these cupcakes and why they're pink and why you decided to make them a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness. Well just cupcakes donate regularly to non-profit agencies and this month we decided to do it with Susan G. Komen Foundation in honor of my mom. Now let's talk about your mom first of all. She is with us still. She's got a very sweet story. She is an eight year cancer survivor and you were told the story but what happened was that I had gone in for a diagnostic mammogram and she had and I called her and said mom guess what It wasn't an easy time back then but I'm glad she is well now and now she is standing up for breast cancer awareness. Talk about this fundraiser and wait How did you come up with the idea for these particular cupcakes and how are you going to raise money for research? Well obviously our signature color is pink and so were teasing that we're going to be pink this week. And so in keeping with the colors and our theme that was it and then actually my mom's coming down. She's on her way actually right now to be our guest baker, hostess at Just Cupcakes for the rest of the week. So I think that's really neat is this entire week if you buy these pink cupcakes half the proceeds will go toward the Susan G. Cullman Fund right? Absolutely and we had a lot of folks call in just to order these and we're thrilled. We're thrilled with the response. Well that's got to be kind of nice to know that you have the support of the community as you support a great cause. So talk about your mother as well. She's going to be baking these signature cupcakes. Yes she is. Are they going to stand Well I don't know how much baking she'll do compared to how much storytelling she'll do so we'll see. But she's a great baker and I'm looking forward to her being there. Everybody is. Right and of course you'll be baking your own signature cupcakes as well for sale. How long will this fundraiser last? Until the end of this week. Okay and so then again half those proceeds will go to the Susan G. Cullman Foundation. I'm trying not touch these cupcakes and I'm trying to also remember I've promised that folks in the studio here will get some as well.
