A mobile cafe founded during the pandemic is upgrading from a coffee trailer to a brick and mortar shop. As Mallory Anderson shows, the owner is also in the running for a major award this Pride Month. Hi, how are you? Good, how are you? Good. Can I do a coffee on the rocks with the fine chai, please? Coffee ushers in the start of a new day. A little extra ice. The Style Pop Cafe Pink Trailer travels all over Milwaukee. And is brewing up a fresh cup for a fresh start. You went from pop ups to the trailer and now what? And now the coffee shop. Roche Brister started Style Pop during the pandemic as a mobile coffee option to offer not only drinks, but community during a tough time. Now she's just a couple months away from opening the doors of her first brick and mortar coffee shop in Walker's Point. It'surreal. This has always been a dream of mine. I always knew that I wanted to eventually have a coffee shop of my own. And I'm just so happy that I've been able to create a space that is conducive to people's productivity, their creativity, their social needs. And that's kind of what I've gotten from other coffee shops. And I'm creating a space where all that comes together in one space. On this day, she's on duty in Cathedral Square Park. As a minority and LGBTQ owned business, Brister is proud of Style Pop's growth. Her coffee is already being sold in Meyer stores. And now she's a semifinalist for a 2024 Founders First Pride Grant for small business owners. I'm up for $25,000. That's a lot of money. How can that change your business and your future? It can change it drastically. I hope to use the funds to go towards our Meyer store input that we're in right now. And also to finish out some of the build out that we need here. Grant Awards are announced at the end of June. Until then, Brister will keep serving up coffee and smiles to happy customers in her pink mobile cafe. Thank you. Yes, no problem. Enjoy. Thanks. In Milwaukee, Mallory Anderson, WISN 12 News. Brister hopes to open the Brick and Mortar Cafe in Walker's Point by August.
