The Bikery

The hand-made; Classic bicycles; Handcrafted coffee and espresso. Moots titanium goodness.

Today I'm here in South Seattle at the bike rea, which is a communal sort of bike shop, very interesting idea. And I came here because I'm going to work together with my friend Alex to replace the stem and handle bar on my ethos. So I'm here in the store now and yeah, this is, I'll link everything below, but this is a space for you to sort of learn to fix up the bike and then sort of get on your way. Alright, so what we're doing today is we're going to replace my old sort of handlebar stem mount combo with an integrated one. So this is what it looks It's a bit funky looking, but yeah, we're going to see how this goes. And we're going to start with just taking off the current bars and mounts. So basically just undoing all the tape, all the things and then loosening the levers and just taking it off. This should be a pretty simple change overall. So pretty excited for what comes next. And there it is, the Revolta Alpinist cockpit. I bought this on sale a while ago and yeah, finally putting it on. It looks really sleek. It's really light and that's the whole purpose of this bike. It's basically my s But yeah, as we're setting this up still talking a little bit more about the bike re, it really is just a DIY community shop. They'll encourage you to basically work on your own bike with all the tools they have here and as well as the volunteer that are there at the moment will sort of assist you with any knowledge you need. They also do have referred rich bike parts and bikes. And yeah, I definitely make sure to leave a donation after our work here. But yeah, it looks But don't forget also to roll over that Enjoy this video. I'll be providing tons of different updates over the s And yeah, I'm just all about getting people on bikes just So definitely check them out. Go work on your bike for Earth Day and get out there riding. As we put in these final plugs, the bike is just about done. All right, so most of it's on now with the new bar tape and everything and looking super sleek. We're going to do a final weigh in. And my goal is to get right under 16 pounds. It was slightly over last time weighed it, but I've made a few modifications, including these handlebars. So let'see what we're at now. 15 pounds, nine ounces. Great. That's awesome. So I think this bike is ready for all the s All right, so it's the next day. It'sunny and took it for a test ride and it feels great. So basically now the top here definitely looks way sleeker. The fit was pretty similar to what I had before. I still have it fairly raised. It was just a little lower, but actually I think it worked out better for me. And then yeah, I really love the drop shape here. My old handlebars were quite awkward where this part was just really short. So basically I was missing this whole bit here. So now I have something to hold on to with the flats. Really from here, it's all going to be sort of the main game is probably just learning to be more aero and slowly taking off those spacers. But other than that, yeah, I think that's pretty much what I got for this bike. Really happy. So see you all in the next video.
