Community spaces, they are so important to people and actually that's also true over in Northampton where a cafu00e9 has just won an award for the role it plays in local life. Saints Coffee gives part of its profits to community projects and has just been recognised in the Northamptonshire Food and Drinks Awards as Stuart Ratcliffe reports. There's nothing unusual about meeting up in a cafu00e9 for a chat, but this cafu00e9 is home to several groups where people discuss mental health issues. Simian Warrell helps set up a men's wellness walk which meets here every fortnight. I think it's very important for the guys actually because mental health in a man is not And it's not the only group based here there are book clubs, employment workshops but also it's a meeting place for Ukrainians. Katarina now works here as a waitress and says the cafu00e9's Ukrainian social group has made a real difference. This is very important because every people who are right from Ukraine this is they just need to support they just need to be not alone and we can help these people for finding jobs for everything information that they need maybe. And it's this work which has been recognised by the Northamptonshire Food and Drinks Awards. Honestly were related to think that we've been trading just over a year and it was a vindication of something that we set out to do so it wasn't by accident we had a plan of we want to be able to do these community projects we want to be able to help people and we want to draw people into the town. The awards are now in their 14th year reflecting Northamptonshire's growing importance as a foodie destination. So this year we've taken 15 categories to the awards we celebrate producers we celebrate food and drink businesses we have a sustainability award we celebrate local food heroes we celebrate up and coming businesses as well as businesses that have withstood the test of time. With the high street facing challenges of both rising costs and an economic slowdown this cafu00e9 believes it's found a winning formula to both serve up food and drink whilst also serving the community.
