Babica Hen Cafe

Located in the heart of Wine Country and the town of Dundee is Babakahen Cafe. I am staying at the Inn at Red Hills and after a day of wine tasting this would allow me to enjoy a relaxing meal before walking upstairs to my room. Dinner started with a spinach and artichoke dip with a Parmesan crust. The dimly lit interior adds a very romantic touch. And the wine selection looks amazing. I'll be checking that out later. House smoked meats are the feature of the dinner menu. Pulled pork, baby back ribs, beef brisket andouille sausage. And since I cannot juice just one I was happy to see there is a meat platter. The platter comes with apricot barbecue, garlic buttermilk and spicy brown mustard sauces. I ordered a side of 4 cheese fusilli and house made cornbread muffins. Wow, the pasta is amazing. The baby back ribs were fall apart tender. It's gone right off the bone. Of course there are lighter options such as the grilled avocado bowl with quinoa. Black beans, orange, pomegranate, grilled corn, cuc There is a papita crusted wild salmon served over wild rice with cranberry, roasted butternut squash and a pear ginger sauce. I love the bar So this is a chicken d Mmmmm. Oh boy. You can't go wrong with anything fried. I've never had anything It'soft and crispy and delicious. And the chicken d The nachos look delicious. Pina chicken, chorizo, black beans, pepper jack and cheddar cheese, pico, jalapeno, olive, sour cream and guacamole. Anyone who knows me knows my favorite part of the meal is dessert. And the lava cake was a perfect end to a perfect meal. The next morning I was beyond excited to try out the breakfast items at Babakahen Cafe. So this is our blueberry french toast. It is french bread that has been soaked in an egg mixture and then baked and then covered with our blueberries that have been reduced in amaretto. Oh my goodness, this smells delicious. Enjoy. Thank you. You're welcome. Alright. Oh boy. Here's the salmon benedict. Wow. And this is our Bloody Mary sampler. Oh my God, that's beautiful. So we have our house and pews vodkas. This one is rosemary garlic, serrano dill and jalapeno. The smoked salmon and avocado benedict came with pickled onions, tomato, capers and a dill holiday sauce served over an English muffin. The Bloody Mary sampler plate with house-infused vodkas was a lot of fun and a perfect way to get my day started. There is also the fire roasted tomato benedict with tomato chutney, bacon and a tarragon holidays. So this is our fried chicken waffles. And this is our hot cocoa with a homemade marshmallow. The chicken and waffles came with a sweet potato mousse and a r A mixture of savory and sweet that was crunchy and tender at the same time. The hot chocolate with homemade marshmallow was one of the best ideas I've seen. So here's our prawns and polenta, the red chili sauce and chili seasoning. Enjoy. Another breakfast speciality are the prawns and polenta. Mexican spice prawns over polenta, two eggs, red chili sauce and cotica cheese. The house-made corned beef hash was one of the best I've ever tried. It was topped with Swiss cheese and a side of their mad beaver sauce. When I came back for lunch I already knew what I was having. The burgers looked delicious. I had the mad beaver burger. Mad beaver sauce, fried onions, blue cheese all in a Kaiser roll and I decided to add bacon. That was a good idea. As a side I chose a bowl of the tornado Tony chili made with shredded beef and pork. There are also salads that look amazing. I love the blue cheese bacon chopped salad which has mixed greens, bacon ranch dressing, blue cheese, grilled chicken breast, bacon, egg, red onion, avocado and tomato. There is an outside eating area for the warmer months and I knew I would have to return many times to sample more from the menu of Babakahen Cafe.
