CoCo Crêpes, Waffles & Coffee

Hey, Trisha Turner here. I'm standing outside of Coco Crepes right here in Folcher next to HEB. About to go in there and learn what a crepe is and see what kind of stuff they have in here because I'm not really sure. I've actually never been in, but I've heard that you can bring your own beer or wine here. So any place you can go and eat sugar and drink wine, I'm in. So let's go check it out. Hey, I'm standing here with Anise. We are now inside Coco Crepes. I had no idea what this place was and I live right around the corner. I actually thought it was mostly I'm amazed at all the things that they have on the menu. Salads, sandwiches, crepes, of course. So I'm going to ask her some questions as I was walking through about things that I don't know about. Like n So a crepe is It'so you just spread it super, super thin so that it gets about 16 inches in diameter. And then it's basically a stuffed pancake, but it's not as sweet as American pancakes. So you can go either sweet or savory. So here's the big question. So is a crepe healthier than a pancake? Oh, no. Unfortunately, no. It's basically the same ingredients, just less sugar. So it's eggs, milk, flour, and cinnamon, a little bit of cinnamon. Okay. Here's going to probably be a silly question, but I seriously don't know. So I'm walking through here and I They have a dessert thing in here. It has chocolate cake in it. So I'm definitely coming back. I eat cake on the weekends. And so I'm coming back for cake, but there's gelato in here, which I don't even know what gelato is. So please tell me what gelato is. So the difference between gelato and ice cream, since we're more of a European cafe, gelato is Italian and what it is, it's no eggs. And we also, in the machine, they blend it longer so it gets fluffier and it's creamier. Whereas ice cream, there's not a lot of air bubbles in there, whereas gelato, it's fluffy and it's got a lot more air in it. So there's less eggs. So it is healthier than regular ice cream. Okay. So see, all my friends also know that I eat just the icing and I throw the cake away. So I'm looking at gelato and it looks So gelato is the healthier version of ice cream kind of? It is kind of. I mean, again, it's got cream but less than ice cream does. It's got sugar, but a little less and no eggs. So they also have coffee here, salads, coffee, soups. Tell everybody else a little bit about what y'all specialize in, what's your big hit here? So our bread and butter is really the crepes. RCEO Yusuf Nafa, who I work for, he would make crepes in the morning for his son. His kids and he decided to open a crepery. So that's really what we mastered and we love our savory crepes. The chicken and spinach is probably the most popular item here. And We just added some sweets, but the next menu roll out, we're definitely going to work on our savory crepes. And then a pininis at this location are probably very popular as well. Not probably. They are. They're still a lot of as well, but I would say our crepes are what make this place so special. Y'all, I'm definitely going to have to try this. I also found out they have nine locations. So if you're not here in Folchard, make sure you go find one out there. Come in here, get some gelato, get a crepe, get a pinini. Make sure you stop by here because I'm telling you, it's amazing. And you can come at any time of the day, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
