Steel City Pops

Well, the pops look promising to include the freshest ingredients as making its Alamo City debut. Yeah, our witness news reporter, Andre Castoreno, got a look inside the new Steel City Pops and this week's Made in San Antonio. The day starts early at Steel City Pops in Southtown. We bring in fresh produce, we bring in fresh dairy every day. Adding the simplest ingredients, then blending them all together. We want people to have a fresh, tasty treat that they can feel good about eating. From there, the mix is poured into a mold, then flash frozen, before they'ready to be packaged and sold. The process may seem The handmade nature of what we're doing is very important. We're very conscientious about our ingredients. And so you can feel really good about this choice. That's what Watkins Pride Steel City pops on, but it wasn't always dessert making for this businessman. It started, I was turning 40 and I was looking for a change in career. And so I'd always wanted a restaurant, but I'm not I've always enjoyed making dessert. Inspired by the traditional paleta, but taking their own twist on the ice cream. I do the same thing that Las Paletas does, but they were very inspiring to me. And so just got in the kitchen, started making different recipes. Now in their fifth year of business and opening their new spot in San Antonio. Seems And so I really enjoy those mentoring relationships too. And so everything about it for me has just been all joy. And I really, I love what I do. And so yes, I would say that change was certainly a great choice for us. So expect to get a culinary experience when trying the more than 100 variations of flavors and combinations at Steel City Pops. That's at the heart of why I do what I do is just sharing great food with new friends, old friends and just seeing that response that they have to it is, it's incredibly fulfilling. So it was a lot of fun to be out there and they let me bring back some tasters for I know Stacia has Oreo and Sharon has avocado, which are really great. I don't know what flavors y'all are. I forgot to. Watermelon. Watermelon. Very good. Very good. What do you have, Paul? I've got some kind of pepper, some kind of I don't But, but I did have a coffee one yesterday that I did Yeah, they said coffee is their best seller. Yeah, this is not for everybody. Let me see. You go ahead. Especially not Paul. You don't So these are Oh, it's pineapple jalapeno, but I'm confused by the red. I thought jalapenos were green. We need to educate them on their jalapenos. It is, it tastes It's delicious. It's very good.
