Carlsbad Chocolate Bar

My name is Laura Ryder and my business is Carlsbad Choclifar and I've had a business in the village since 2007. I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area. I had a corporate job with a multi-million dollar company actually that's internationally owned and I worked for them for about seven years. I got a lot of good experience but I found that I just wasn't enough for me and I wanted to do some other things on my own and so I branched out and came down to Carlsbad for a different pace of life and I've been here ever since. I think it's the perfect place to live. The weather's ideal, the oceans are beautiful and the village is a point place to do business. So I saw this corner as a unique opportunity. It had been vacant for over one year. Initially I just kind of inquired about this space. I wasn't really sure if I actually wanted it but then things kind of quickly fell into place and we moved forward and we've been happy ever since. I think that the Carlsbad Choclifar contributes quite a bit in the village. I think it's kind of a nice hub for people in the morning to get their coffee, kind of a nice comfort place. Also, I've noticed in the afternoon when people need to pick me up, they come by after they've been shopping and want to get off their feet for a little bit. And then I would say lastly, we get a lot of traffic in the evening when people have gone to the different restaurants here in the village and they want to walk around and maybe just get a small tree or a espresso and so they'll come in here afterwards and gather with friends and family.
