Yeah, lawyers are still trying to surround exactly what this ruling means, but later this week the city council and a community group known as the Quiet Skies Coalition are hoping to get together and have a little bit better explanation, but still they're celebrating tonight and hoping pretty soon they'll be a little bit quieter in the skies over this community. It was a bit of celebration at the beginning of Burians Council meeting as they announced a ruling from the court of appeals in the city's favor over the controversial Burian Turn, a maneuver that put dozens of flights in the skies over Burian every day as they left C-TAC. Wow, I come before you tonight, three and a half years later when I first stood here and complained about the turns over the city. And we've been through a lot together. The lawsuit was initially filed by the Quiet Skies Coalition, but was later taken over by the city of Burian who took it to court. They said that pattern caused noise issues and environmental problems. That turn has concentrated them over the city of Burian, but even beyond the lawsuit we felt that it was unsafe and still to this day believe that those flights are unsafe turning at such a low altitude and coming over the city. Lawyers are now going through the decision to figure out what's next. They will In some ways the fight has only begun. We won the first battle, but we have a bigger battles to fight. And we reached out to the FAA today for comment. At this point they said they're not ready to talk about this ruling. Now keep in mind C-TAC is the eighth busiest airport in the country and this could raise some questions about whether or not the ruling could impact their ability to keep up with so much demand and growth. We're live in Burian tonight. Amy Marino, King 5 News.
