Dragonfly Cycle Concepts

My name is Kevin Martin. I own and operate Dragonfly Cycle Concepts out of Southern California where we specialize in audio and body components for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The whole business started just from the simple need of wanting a ferry. I'd been an automotive mechanic and done car stereos and automotive paint and customizing of high-end automobiles for years. Took a break from that for a while, but then when I saw the need for this to come about, kind of j With Dragonfly we have customers come up to us all the time that either already have a ferrying on their motorcycle and they're looking for better sound or they don't have a ferrying at all and they're looking to be able to put something up front to then house the radio as well. I was actually introduced to Focal back in the early 2000s from Car Toys up in Seattle. They did a vehicle for me because I didn't have time to do it myself and ever since then that's what I've used in every vehicle. When we saw the opportunity and the need of Harley-Davidson enthusiasts wanting better audio, for us it was really no brainer to bring Focal in. We didn'think that the market could handle the price point of that type of a quality speaker. We thought the end user was more of the entry level, the cheaper system, but as time went on we continued to take those speaker brands out of motorcycles that people bought and get them into the Focal and they never look back. When we design our systems on a motorcycle we have a few different variations in ideas in mind. For the gentleman that wants to just sit in a parking lot and show off to all his friends we'll put multiple speakers all around the bike front and back. For the customer that just wants to truly enjoy it riding down the road we start by putting it up in the ferry. It's actually the wind envelope to where if you can keep the music inside of that you'll hear the music better going down the road at almost any speed. I can hear the full range of sound. I don't really understand how they do it. I would like to learn more however I've learned by just playing around with the different speakers and the combinations and in an application environment such as we have we found that with being out in the open air the way that the speakers react to the song we can hear everything that the song is playing instead of just the higher frequencies which are generally what you're all that's left with The enjoyable part for me dealing with Focal when I explain to somebody they are from France and it is a French based company. People generally almost immediately understand that We're not dealing with a Japanese speaker that's just mass produced and it The reputation of being French lets our customers know that it's a great product. We explain to our customers on a regular basis the way that Focal backs their product with the warranties and they stand behind them. My lifestyle runs a fine line between enjoying the motorcycle and enjoying quality sound. It became really neat that I helped bring in a lot of the high-end audio that was from the cars and the home experience to the motorcycle world. It really stands alone as a quality product when you use Focal. It's a sound that no one else can really reproduce.
