I was at a massive commercial fire in Kent so intense they called an airport rig for support and deep penetration. It started Sunday morning on 78th Avenue around 116 a. m. in the Binford metal recycling compound. Called in as a pile of cars on fire noting lots of flammable t First rigs pushed in and began dispersing tank water w About 11 minutes in from initial call it was determined to be a large fire load and a one alarm tone was struck w At 1. 58 a. m. a port of Seattle RFRIG was requested which usually are used for airplane fires but also have unique capabilities for industrial fires However the RFRIG did have some logistical issues getting to scene as they went down a road with a low overhead bridge. RFRIGs don't get out of the airport much and aren't as familiar with surface streets and are much bigger than many fire trucks. By 204 a. m. a second alarm was struck. C It was not yet clear what started the fire. A fire investigator was on scene by the time I left. T However it was the largest.
