We are at the 19th annual Cherokee Art Market here at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Last night we had our awards reception where were able to award over $75,000 in cash and prizes to our artists and today guests can walk around and see the award-winning pieces and look at the ribbons and talk to the artist. We have art from over 160 different federally recognized tribal artists. It's just a very welcoming environment. We want everybody to feel welcome to come out and talk to the artist and get to know them and learn their stories and what really inspires them to make their art. The piece that I entered is called the Cato Story of the Flood. So it's a very traditional piece, meaning that I hand dug the clay and hand built the piece and it's open ground fire and then it's engraved by hand after that. Being able to win t So I t It kind of works together in a circle. I mainly do animal art. I've been doing these sculptures for the last two years and it's all animals mainly. It's a paper sculpture. It's all hand dyed paper towels, paper, card stock, found object would be the dirt wood. Well, I know the Bald Eagle is a very powerful symbol and so I thought I would do that. I've done one before it was a heron and it was more relaxed and subdued but t It took a lot of time. It was about 500 hours that I poured into t I know it is, somewhere.
