Music Hello, my name is Faith Wilson and I am the director of Main Street, Zephyr Hills. Thank you so much for joining us. We are here at the Jeffery's house doing the first interview in a series of interviews for Main Street businesses and Main Street members. Today I'd like to welcome from Habitat for H Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you for coming. Now for those people who may not know, what is Habitat for H And our vision is that we want to build strength, stability and self-reliance in partnership with families in need of safe, decent affordable housing. And we do that with volunteers who come out, volunteer their time alongside Habitat partner families who also build their home and then will purchase their home with an affordable mortgage. Wow, that's a great mission. There's a lot of people out there that need help. I'd Well, our re-store is located here in Zephyr Hills in the Plaza with big lots. It's 4,700 Allen Road. What we do is we sell new and used donations and some purchase product to the community and all of that money goes into helping to build homes that are here locally in our community. So that helps to offset some of those construction costs and what not. So we offer donation pickups. We also take donations at our store Tuesday through Saturday from 9 until 4. We have a truck that goes out and picks up donations from appliances, furniture, building supplies, toilets, bathtubs, anything you can think of. Welcome a lot to pick up. So nobody has an excuse not to donate. You're going to come get it. And So it really does help. The store is open from 9 to 5 those days. And then our n So please give us a call. Awesome. No excuses. Does Resort or Habitat for H We do not right now currently. We have built homes in Zephyr Hills and this is definitely in our area where we would love to build. Right now, But as So if anybody who's watching this happens to know of buildable lots that are affordable or even someone might have an affordable lot that they want to donate to Habitat, then I urge you to give us a call. So the need is great. We know how to build. We know how to face this issue. We know how to fix it. We just need land and money. Easy peasy. We can do this and we are doing it, The volunteers and the donors and the families, Do you have any events coming out to help support these initiatives? Yes, we do. It's a while out, but I'll give you a save the date. Alright, I'll shut it down. Okay, for November 5th, we're going to be having what we call the Dream Builders Bash, and that will be an opportunity for folks to come out to a free dinner. But it will, we will showcase to you our families, our volunteers, our donors, give you some insight into who we are and how we work, and hopefully, tug at your heartstrings enough so that you make a donation. Now, this is more of a personal curiosity. Can you tell me something that is most interesting about Habitat for H We had a playhouse not too long ago and we will have another playhouse coming up at Christmas time that was built by our volunteers that come down, our caravaners. So we do offer a playhouse at least once or twice a year at the Raffle Out, a lot of it's a ring store. So keep your eyes open on our Facebook page and we will definitely let everyone know when that's coming up again. I have three things. Oh, let's have a little talk. Let me hear it. I'm ready. The first, the really are based on the myths of Habitat. Okay. The first one is that we give houses away. We do not give houses away. We give families an opportunity to help build and then purchase their affordable home. So we keep the home affordable. They do not pay more than 30% of their income for their mortgage. Wow. But they are not given anything other than an opportunity. The second thing is Jimmy Carter did not start Habitat. He's probably our most famous volunteer. He and his wife Roslyn are amazing. They have supported Habitat for many, many years across the world and they continue to support Habitat in spite of failing health and becoming much older. But we love the carters. We love what they've done to promote us, but they did not start it. It was started by a man named Millard Fuller. The third thing, we do not just build houses for single moms. Single moms have had a lot of Habitat's built for them, but we have built for married couples with kids, married couples with no kids, single individuals. If you think that you might know someone or yourself might be eligible for this program, three things you need. You need to have the need for housing. You're living in substandard housing or paying way too much for your housing. You have the ability to pay an affordable mortgage and you're willing to partner. So I tell you, We are building houses. We're doing it. So you might be the one. Well, thank you so much ladies for that information and also thank you for being part of the first of our interview series.
