11 the Salvation Army helps thousands of people every year but tonight they're asking for your help. The organization says someone has been breaking into family stores and donation centers in Chesapeake, Virginia Beach and Hampton. Only on 13 News Now, Angelo Vargas found out the culprit was caught on camera. Salvation Army officials tell me that the thieves took thousands of dollars from stores Salvation Army leaders say they have had four break-ins in their store since August. For someone to steal from the Salvation Army, that really is discouraging. The latest theft happened Saturday night. Surveillance cameras from the family store in Chesapeake show a man in a hoodie getting out of a w He shatters the front door and walks straight to the safe and takes the cash. Salvation Army Captain Damon Graham says t It affects us raising money to help the men that are in our Dirt Rehabilitation Center. Salvation Army Major Donald Doman says last week in Hampton, criminals ripped the locks right off their storage units, stealing up to $15,000 in items. Stole red kettles, and stole the sonnage, and stole toys that we have set aside for Christmas t And they also stole some of our disaster equipment and some backup generators that we had. Graham says then in August, someone broke into the family store and donation center in Virginia Beach. Surveillance pictures show the man trying to use an T Graham and Doman say the criminals are not just taking from the stores, but from families and people in need. The person or persons who are responsible Salvation Army officials say that they upgraded their security system since thefts, but that also cost them more than $20,000 in Chesapeake, Angelo Vargas 13 News Now.
