Proceeds go for community projects in Mexico, for improvements to Mission Villa Granada and to the start-up of Weekend Missions-USA
We're a little different than your average thrift store. I believe that we're a ministry. We determined that it would be more efficient, more profitable, better use of time and space if we opened up a thrift store. The thrift store was originally started after we had held yard sales. In the eight and a half years that we've been open, we have donated over $800,000. The proceeds support Dora International, w It also supports our ministries locally and globally to unreach people groups. We're able to provide The deaf are the largest unreached people group in the world. Yet sadly, over the years, they've been overlooked by the church because they're scattered throughout every country and every community. In 1999, my wife, Linda, and I began Dora International with a specific goal to reach the deaf. We've become the largest Bible translation and church planting organization for the deaf in the world. Crossroads has been a big part of t Each step of the way they've been with us in starting Bible translation and training church planters. And a great reason for that is because of mission thrift. We need you to know that donations and volunteers are needed. Your volunteering helps to reach one of the largest unreached people groups in the world. The deaf have no resources. They can't provide their own training, their own resources to pay church planters. Your help with working at missions thrift and donating to missions thrift makes that a reality. Our volunteers who serve at the thrift store really find it a great way to connect with one another. It's fun. It's easy. What they do are having a great impact on our community and folks around the world. It's a wonderful place to visit and to come and volunteer. We make great friends We have customers that come in. They know us by name. We know them by name. The thrift store was a place that I could serve. At first, I thought, oh, I don't know if I really want to. But once I got here, I look forward to it every week. You feel We had a fire in the warehouse that impacted the thrift store back in early August. All of the items in the thrift store were damaged. We're basically having to start from scratch. We have renovated the entire space with new paint, new lighting. We need people to donate their gently used or new items. That's a blessing for you to volunteer. A blessing for the ones that are buying. And it's a blessing for the ones that need it, that we're sending out the money to help.
