This month in Redecor is dedicated to family vacations, togetherness, and spending time with the people you love. For me, that's first and foremost my family. Almost everyone has made a family tree at one point or another to showcase their family history. But how can we take a homework assignment or a crafty afternoon project with your kids and turn it into a beautiful, personal, decorative element you'll be proud to hang in your home? MUSIC Today, I want to show you a creative way to make a family tree that combines a bit of illustration with your actual fingerprints. You'll need a piece of paper or a poster board that's thick enough to support ink prints. The first step will be to draw a tree with branches. The amount of branches depends on how large you want to make your family tree. If drawing isn't your strongest suit, you can always trace or download an existing image or template. Once you have your tree, we'll be creating the leaves. For this, you'll need non-toxic pigment ink pads. It's nice to select a few different green shades to make your tree more colorful and diverse. Simply use your fingers to stamp leaves along your tree branches. You can use different fingers so the leaves have a variety of shapes and sizes. If you're doing this with your kids, they can add their own fingerprints to the tree. In fact, include other family members' original fingerprints, if you can, to make it even more authentic and personal. You can even make a little paw print for your family pet. To finish off your artwork, use a fine waterproof pigment pen to add the names of your family members to the leaves and branches of your tree. Ta-da! A beautiful picture that tells your family history. Any other ideas for creative family trees? Let me know in the comments and
