I've owned and operated Black Amazes Tattoo Gallery for the past 10 years. Black Amazes is a tattoo studio that I created in 2015 when I decided that it was time for me to open up my own shop. I wanted it to be a full encompassing art experience when you came into the shop. Between the art on the wall and the tattooing skills that we have here, I just wanted to elevate to a next level. I've been tattooing for over 20 years. What I feel sets me apart from other tattooers is just the fact that I have an art degree. It's always art first. I try to not follow tattoo trends that happen out there and start creating some of my own. I always try to bring an artistic element to every piece we do, even if it'simple lettering. There's always something more that we can do to make it art. My favorite style of tattooing is large, full color work. It's not a specific style. It can vary between different stuff, different techniques and different ways it looks. But large in color, I'm your guy. Inspiration for me comes from a lot of very different aspects. I'm a big movie buff. Actually one of my childhood heroes passed this last week, Drew Streusen. He did movie posters anywhere from Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future. I'm also big into the illustrative world. Also game design, movie prop design. I pull from a lot of different sources, just anything that's art related. I get to do a job that I love every day. I've been a tattooer for 20 years and working steadily every day for those 20 years. It's very rewarding.
