THINK INK TATTOOS / GALLERY
MODERN CUSTOM ELECTRIC TATTOOING.
Hundreds of the world's best tattoo artists have descended on Melbourne to ink up our locals. The convention brings cultural influences from tribal times to the fore as the history of body art is revealed. An unusual setting as the buzz of tattoo needles fills the air. It's a familiar sound for John Kenny. He's been collecting stamps since he was 12 and is fast running out of room. My face is only one touch. The only thing. The only thing. He still remembers his first, this Indian girl, I was a guy who used to work in Brondwick. He did one night at his place. Thousands are expected to pass through the Rites of Passage Tattoo Convention over the weekend. With more than 200 tattoo artists from around the world, there'something for just about everyone. In Australia, there's a lot of people tattoo on the body, but in Taiwan, not a lot of people tattoo on the body. The convention focuses on the history of tattooing throughout the ages. To get people to come together and think about the reasons why they get tattooed, not just in the modern day, but as they did back in tribes and ancient times. But for some, it's just a chance to get that piece of ink they've been waiting for. You can't describe the feeling of it. No, it's just extremely painful. A lifelong alteration in the hands of a stranger. It's not a choice to be in the chair, is it? The Expo runs until Sunday evening. Rukal Eberle, 10 News.
