New ERA Tattoo Studio

My name is Oscar Banyelos. I'm the owner of New Era Tattoo Studio here in Douglas, Georgia. I've been drawing for a long time. As far as I can remember, I've always been a passionate mind. I got an older brother that's been in and out of prison. He learned how to make one of the prison style homemade tattoo machines and they showed me how to make one. We made them out of a little remote control car, motor, used batteries to power it up, used guitar strings to make the needles out of. I've been tattooing professionally now for about 10 years and it's always been something, It's always been something I wanted to do and I just slowly, Usually we start off by asking where the tattoo is going. Usually we ask for a few reference pictures of what they're thinking about getting and then we just kind of start figuring out how it's going to flow the best, how we can place different things together and we want to make it a little bit different also. We don't want to make it, we don't want to do a copy of tattoo. So we just figure out the size, what kind of design it is and we just try to figure out how it's going to flow the body the best way. As an artist I always get excited whenever I get to do cool pieces so just throughout the whole process, I look at it and I'm like, We've been doing really well here. I'm actually needing another artist here at the shop but I definitely have thought about expanding, We're open Monday through Saturday. Monday and Tuesday we open from 12 to 6 and Wednesday through Saturday we open from 11 to 7. We also offer piercings and we also speak Spanish.
