My name is Kevin Franks. I've been working at Suicide King's Tattoo for about 10 years now. How I got started tattooing was a friend of mine asked if he could borrow one of my sketchbooks and I let him borrow it. He said he wanted to show it to a friend, but he didn'tell me it was another tattoo artist. So when he came back to return the sketchbook, he showed me that he got a piece of my artwork on his arm. He was always telling me that I should pursue tattooing and once I saw my artwork actually on somebody, that's when I really wanted to check this out. I've been with Suicide King's for probably 8 years. Usually it takes a little bit before you find the right environment, the right people you want to work with. I finally did. My favorite kind of tattoos to do or anything that's big is the most important thing. Overall anything. As long as it's large, I'm usually going to be cool with most anything. I The tattoos I don't We see a lot of people coming in trying to get that same thing. We'll see the same tattoo over and this will happen in waves. Just as long as it's original, if it'something that you found off Google, then it's not always the best avenue to pursue. If you're a first time customer thinking about getting your first tattoo, what you want to do is go into a shop and take a look around, talk to the artist, make sure it's an environment that you feel comfortable in, look through their portfolios, look through their books and make sure it's work that you think is well done. And most importantly, make sure it's a clean environment. Make sure they do everything by procedure, make sure the shop looks clean. If it doesn't, then it definitely isn't. Communication is key. You want to make sure you're communicating with the artist that you're working with and that the design is really what you're looking for.
