Pistol Pete's Tattoos

The Love of tattooing- black and grey realism lettering tattoos are my specialty. I enjoy all styles including water color, traditional, and new school.

Realism black and grey is more concerned on optical illusions. Using less lines to create edges instead uses shading. With more dynamic shading a 3D look is created and it is not as flat as a traditional black and grey tattoo. With a full spectrum of black ranging from solid black to an extremely soft grey using several washes of ink consisting of different levels of black.

My name is Pistol Pete. I'm from Amarillo, Texas. I went to Tesco's to high school. I've lived in Amarillo for about 20 years. Off and on I moved to Arkansas and tattooed in Colorado and I've been back for about two years now. What got me into tattooing was my dad and my family. My brother always come home with a bunch of tattoos and my dad had a lot of tattoos so I always saw those and was really inspired. When I was building a tattoo machine at the table my dad told me if I got it running I could practice on him. I never got the chance so I figured I should keep it going and learn how to tattoo. Since I started I've been tattooing almost seven years now. To me what makes a good tattoo is two or several things. N You have to have a strong outline. N You have to have the proper amount of shading. N If you're doing a color tattoo you need to make sure you have a good contrast between your dark colors and your light colors. That way your tattoo holds up over time. My favorite style of tattooing would be black and gray realism. That's always fun to trick the eye and have it on somebody's body permanently. I feel There's a lot of emotion that goes into a great tattoo and a great tattoo tells a story. Some people might not even have a backstory on their tattoo but once they come in here they end up leaving the story with their tattoo and what it means or the inspiration behind the artwork with it all together comes together as a piece of art for them to keep forever. To me tattooing means getting to keep your artwork forever and being an artist and showing your art and making it permanent and the trust that goes in with somebody giving you their body part to make beautiful for them. That's what tattooing is about. So for a first time or when they come into the shop I really don't want them to be nervous. Obviously tattoos hurt but Make sure you drink something It'll help with your nerves and what you're endorphins. When somebody calls for a price about a tattoo I generally tell them to come in so we can talk. Some small things can be priced over the phone. The shop minim That covers from something as small as a quarter to a little bit bigger than that. When it comes to the sleeve it's usually done by the hour but Then we go on to talking about how big they want to do it and then if they have a budget in mind we try to work with that too. People should choose my shop over other shops because we're offering a private atmosphere here where it's about the customer. We want to pay full 100% attention to the customer one at a time because I can'tattoo two people at once. It's very important to me that 100% of the attention goes to the customer because I can't answer questions and be drawing up stuff while I'm tattooing so one at a time keep it personal.
