Hi, I'm here with Marie Hyland, Miss Olive Oil, founder of Naples Olive Oil Company. com. And I keep hearing people talk about an olive oil diet. What is that all about? Does someone actually use olive oil to lose weight or how does that work, Marie? Well, it'so interesting because it's really great and here's how it works. Olive oil turns on the hormone leptin, which tells your brain to stop eating. Most of us are leptin resistant because we eat a lot of junk, packaged foods, preservatives, all the bad things that are bad for you. And it turns off our natural hormones that tell the brain that we're hungry. So a tablespoon of good grade olive oil, fresh, an hour before you eat will tell the brain, the brain will turn on that leptin hormone and it will tell your stomach, your fault, no more eating, and you'll just naturally eat less. So that's what causes you to lose weight. Very interesting. But it's important to get the high grade type.
