That's because this used to be an old railroad track. Gilman Village has been family run for over 50 years. I recently had a chance to sit down with two generations of that family. I think what makes Gilman Village so special is the same thing that makes everybody special. Their personality, the way they look, the way you feel around them. It didn't begin with a plan. That's kind of its magic. It was an initial idea that came about in times when times were tough and how do you make things work with what you've got. And so we started with just a couple of houses and then it just caught on. Issaquah embraced it and it grew. Now it'seven acres. We have 40 plus businesses. What's really great about the businesses that are here is that you're going to meet the owner. The person who is at the desk checking you out is the person who dreamed up the idea for the store. The person who chooses the things that are in it. The person who builds the things that they're selling. You can't get that anywhere else and I just think that's really amazing.
