For 33 years, the Mall of the Bluffs offered an indoor escape for families and shoppers. December 31, 2019 marks its last day before it's torn down to make way for a brand new home improvement store. James Hahn remembers the years the Mall was at its peak. Flagship stores C. Penny and Dillard's attracted hundreds if not thousands of customers every week. Very positive. Like I said, Skyler Franks remembers coming here often, getting a bite at the food court or visiting the Mall Santa at Christmas time. She says it wasn't until this November when she and others found out one of her favorite hangouts would close for good. It was shocking, but I mean It's kind of here, I guess. Disappointed that the mall died the way it did, Hahn says he believes a new Menards can help bring life back to this corner of the city. Franks says she's not so sure. I definitely don'think a Menards is going to It's not going to do anything for us. What's going to happen to the property is actually it's going to be good for the community because Now reports in November confirmed Menards purchased 48 acres of the property, letting the Council Bluffs Community School District stay in a current building, but leaving space for a quote bigger and better store.
