Here we go! One sec. . . Today I wanted to take you all on a relaxing little trip to a dead mall that I drive by almost every day in Conroe, Texas. This mall has not been dead for as long as you would think. As early back as There was no indication that it was dying. I thought it was just a normal mall and then all of the sudden last month I happened to drive by it and I noticed that there's I mean, I'm not great at math but I know that's not good. Those are not good metrics to be working with. And so I wanted to come put it to film because I was horrified of the idea of something this abandoned being mowed over and turned into an apartment complex or something behind my back. It was very weird. It was very strange. You can hear the highway in the video on the camera but in reality it was very eerily quiet. It was strange, strangely quiet. I did not enjoy it. I had this weird sense of discomfort And you see this was the saddest part. This poor fake plant had not been watered in so long it was literally shedding leaves. This one was weird. This was weird. I picked a store and just crammed all the shelves and decor and everything else from all the other stores just into this one unit. It was it's bizarro. It's a weird storage choice just open So, while I was walking around I happened to b He saw me filming and wanted to come over and see what I was doing. He was this really cool older guy and he stopped for a minute and he kind of gave me the rundown on why the mall had ended up failing. What happened? Well, there's one who, 935, stays busy. But 945 are commuters that's going back and forth. The big line road wasn't even, it was a two lane old road being so it didn't ring in correctly. I don't know. Was it popular back when it opened or was it just dead from the start? Yeah, there was quite a few cars here but it was dead in the water. The thing that was supposed to be a factory outlet, what you want to say, prasers would be cheaper than they were. Well, thank you. I appreciate it. You too sir. So that was nice. It was nice getting to chat with it. It was funny to see a mall walker in an outdoor dead mall. It'speaking of being outdoors, the elements were not kind to the outlets because everywhere I looked it looked I think I'm not exactly sure what black mold looks It was so thick and it looked It gave a very visceral feel to how long this place had sat without any real building maintenance. Okay, so this was probably my favorite part of the whole mall is that up near the front there is a set of building that just has red and green windows and it's just plastered around and there's a light on inside that you can see and when you get up real close and you look inside there's a place for Santa Claus and it's that light is just perpetually on whether I went in the daytime or the nighttime it's always on and there'santa's little cabin that is just there year round it's his little shack and I guess that's where they would prep toys or where the elves would be when they do Christmas stuff. I don't know if they still do Christmas stuff but I'll come back this year to see if they get it all up and going every year if this is just kind of left there as a testament of better days. I don't know who designed this but they need to beaten and left in the jungle look at that in it's oh it'so triggering it's just so askew. Also the curves had their benches painted purple and I thought that was hilarious I ended up only taking a picture and not taking a video because there was a class in session and I did not want all of the middle aged women doing jazzercise inside to think I was being a creep and come out and beat me up with their turbo jam skills so I decided to just snap the picture because I thought it was aesthetically pleasing that there were just purple benches and they were nowhere else in the mall but there and I don't know why I
