Recently we took a look at the final hours of the Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights, Mic Now we're going to go a few miles down Hall Road to check out the Mall at Partridge Creek. T I don't know if t I'd have to say they're probably on the same level. So I grew up in Canton and Livonia on the complete opposite side of town, and w But I do vividly remember visiting t I didn't grow up poor by any means, but on the other hand, I wasn't wealthy. And I can remember walking around this mall just kind of feeling out of place I know that's kind of a weird feeling, especially since what I was maybe And I just I was a kid. I was not an adult yet. By no means is t So when I saw that several of the anchor stores were vacant, I was just That really shocked and surprised me. So they've got one fountain, and then there's another So we're going to take a look at their main fountain because it's a very nice fountain. So when I saw Bobcat Bonnie's, I was just For those of you that are unfamiliar, the crazy old lady is what we refer to her on t But yeah, it's not a very common name. But here we can take a look at the directory so you can kind of see the layout of the place. The mall at Partridge Creek was developed by the Tubman Corporation of Bloomfield So yes, I was correct. I was in my teens. I was 17 at the time. And t Unfortunately, because t I mean, if you were to put t Now, The very first department store to open up at the mall would be Parisien. Then on April 18th of 2008, a Nordstrom would open up to the public making it the second department store. In January of 2013, all the Parisians would be converted to the Carson's name. T Unfortunately, in 2018, all the Carson stores around the country would permanently close, leaving anchor tenant vacant at the mall. And even more unfortunate is that anchor tenant is still vacant as of 2024. It's actually kind of shocking that it'still vacant, being that t And then in June of 2019, it would be announced that Nordstrom would not be extending their lease and be closing their store here at the mall at Partridge Creek, another blow to t Fortunately, in July of 2024, a new tenant would swoop in and take up the space that once held the Nordstrom department store. It was announced that a Dick'sporting Goods would be opening and have the brand new House of Sports concept. And yeah, that's really all there is to the And it really hasn't had a lot of stores close and reopen and it's thriving, w So anyone that's familiar with the Detroit area knows that Hall Road or M59, as some call it, is a shopping mecca. It's just mile after mile of strip malls and restaurants and entertainment venues. And then surrounding that is what I would consider to be very expensive housing. Now, I get why there's very few outdoor malls here in the Detroit area, and that's because the winters are long and harsh. And just the natural landscape of Mic I don't know, it's just my personal preference. I prefer the indoor mall just because you can visit it any time of the year and be comfortable and not have to worry about do I really want to go to the mall today? Is the weather going to cooperate? Is it going to snow? Is it going to rain? So, But I do have some fond memories in the mid 2000s coming here with my mom walking around shopping, grabbing a bite to eat at the California Pizza Kitchen because, ooh, that place is so good. They had this I loved it. Now, t I don't believe it's anywhere outside of the Detroit area actually and it's a very nice theater because I've been in t Not necessarily this one in particular just because, It wasn't down the street. But I have seen a few movies in t Let me know down in the comments section below. Do you prefer outdoor malls or indoor malls? And have you ever been to the mall at Partridge Creek and what was your experience? I'd really As always, thank you to all of my members who support the work that I do.
