Burbank Town Center

It’s time to make a trip to Burbank Town Center for the best in shopping, entertainment and dining! For Shopping hours, restaurant, department store and cinema hours visit www.burbanktowncenter.com.

It's Tuesday, December 17th, and I have to do some Christmas shopping, so I figured I'd take you on a little trip to the Burbank Town Center, once a bustling mall now considered by many to be a dead mall. But it's Christmas, so I thought it'd be interesting to see how this place is holding up during what'supposed to be the busiest shopping time of year. Let'see what we find inside. So I decided to enter through Macy's and was immediately greeted by the sight of a Toys A Russ right in the lobby. I'd heard they were coming back in a limited capacity, but this is my first time actually seeing one. Pretty cool toy selection actually, some Nintendo stuff, Durfgun, Star Wars of course, but as you can see it's pretty quiet in here, which as we'll see is a big theme for this visit. Let'see if we can check out some more of the mall. Right away you can feel the emptiness. It's decorated for the season, but there'something a bit eerie about it. Starting up in the 80s and 90s, malls were the place to be during Christmas. Shoppers, families, Santa Claus, here it's just silent. I mean I know it's a random Tuesday morning around 11, but it is a week before Christmas, so I figured it would be a lot busier than this, but let's keep going and see what we can find. Surprisingly there are still some pretty big name businesses here. There's an H&M, an AMC down there, though not sure how much longer that will last. And then right around the corner, Sears. I thought all the Sears had shut down, but apparently there'still one here in the Burbank Town Center. Although the second floor appears to be completely shut down, the entrance on the first floor was open. Kinda surreal. Right next to Sears is an arcade called Game On, which looks pretty cool, but is also pretty empty. Of course it wouldn't be a trip to the mall without a obligatory pop-in to Hot Topic. Let's check out their t-shirts. I was the only person in here. I don't even think the salesperson knew I was here. Cool stuff though. Check our way down to the food court. Food court is usually the heart of any mall, and it looks Barely. Adjacent to the food court is an entrance to Round 1, a chain of arcades kinda I've been to this one before for birthday parties, but it appears to be closed at the moment, which makes sense since it's barely lunchtime. Not sure how the other smaller kid is still in business though, but poor power to him. I saw this cute little bonsai tree kid at World Market, which I ended up buying, along with a few other things, mainly stocking stuffers. I decide to take a moment to observe the food court while I peruse my overpriced stocking stuffer hall. It appeared to have all the dead mall staples, Mongolian Grill, Sparrow Pizza, and Panda Express. There weren't many customers around even during lunchtime. Found this cool little store called Tokyo Japanese Lifestyle. It has a big variety of trendy, quirky Japanese products. Very cool stuff. Here's a cool shot of the food court from up above. Still very empty. Heading down the last wing of this mall, and some interesting places. Rockin' Slime stays in business. But I will definitely be hitting up this orange Julius next time on here. And there will be a next time. Places A time when shopping was an experience. It's kind of sad to see them fade, but Oh yeah, and before I go, here's a quick shot of Santo, all by himself. Above, just some random dude getting massage on a Tuesday. Well, ho, I guess. So what do you think? Would you visit a dead mall this holiday season? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks everyone. Happy holidays from Nostalgia B.
