In Hoover, big changes could be coming to one of Alabama's most iconic shopping centers. A new redevelopment strategy lays out a vision to transform the River Chase Galleria into a walkable mixed-use destination. So let's get you involved in the conversation. The Hunden Group, a C The group says that visitation at the Galleria is down 33 percent from 2019 to 2024, blaming crime perception and a weak holiday season for the decline. There are items that I need at some stores that I don't have to resupply very often, so I don't have a need to go very often. Hoover residents say the area is due for a facelift. The Hunden plan calls for two phases of redevelopment. Phase one, transform the old sears into nearly 300 apartments, 30,000 square feet of retail, and a public plaza with green space. Phase two, demolish the Macy's to make room for more apartments, retail, and outdoor space. Some residents excited for that change. I mean, I know Hoover is growing so much. I just worry about all the traffic, just with having even more people live over there, but I think there'so many families and that kind of thing moving to Hoover so the green space and having that actually be Others, not so sure. It was booming. Yeah. It was booming, yes. So to see the decline is unfortunate, but from what I gathered, that's universal across the America. Yeah. I asked before, had there been a lot of study in terms of what's best for the area? I don't have an opinion in terms of what should go in, how to revitalize, but I'll just have to listen and learn.
