One of the first indoor malls ever built in the U. S. will be closing next month. Mounds Mall in Anderson announced today that they'll close April 1st. The recent closing of Carson's department store and the Garfield's restaurant left the mall without any major tenant. The Mounds 10 theater and Dr. Tavill family eye care will remain open because they have private entrances. The online blog, Mall Hall of Fame, reports the mall first opened in 1964. It was developed by Melvin Simon, founder of Simon Property Group and former Pacers owner.
