This is the Wild Birds Unlimited Classic Feeder, and we would call this a foundational feeder, which means it holds food for several days. Hi, I'm Jim Carpenter. I'm founder and CEO of Wild Birds Unlimited. This feeder was something that I designed in about 1990. I spent 10 years thinking about feeders, and then finally came up with this design. And there's a lot of reasons why this feeder then has stood the test of time. For the most part, hopper feeders, wooden hoppers, people would film, and they'd be two-sided, and people would face them towards the window And then if you face it this way, the wood came down So this curved side made a lot of sense, and they also have a good view of what's happening around. As they fly in and are on the feeder, they can see what's happening on each side. And then what I really added that was, I think, pretty special, was this little opening right here. And the reason for that was And so you would get an acc Well, either the birds scratching around, getting their next fresh seed would knock the empty shells out, or wind would then easily come in and blow the shells out. Also, if we had a blend that has millet in it, which is really more of a ground feeding food, the perching birds that come to this, they knock out the millet, goes down the ground, and then that's where the sparrows, devs, and junkos will eat it there. So that took care of that. This is in recycled plastic. This one is going to last 100 years, I can tell you that. Used to have a wooden bottom, but we added a tray here that then is easy to come out, so it's easy to clean. But we also, we call this an eco-clean product. Anything that touches the surface of this keeps the microbes from growing. I originally did do a design patent on this back in the early 90s, and that was about to run out. So I took several years, but I was able to get a three-dimensional trademark on this actual design. So nobody can copy this feeder exactly as it is, because it has a three-dimensional trademark. And eventually became our logo, such as I thought an important representation of who we are and what we do. That's kind of my story about the Wild Birds Unlimited Classic Bird Feeder. So I hope you're able to use this feeder and enjoy the birds.
