Kallianis olive groves peak at the highest elevation in the Spartan valleys, which offer ideal growing conditions for excellent quality organic olive oil and olives. All of our olives are picked by hand in the early winter crop season, when the fruit is still not fully mature to produce. This rare wild Greek olive is called “Agourelaio” (“immature” olive). In 1910, the Kallianis olive groves in the region of Sparta were destroyed by a historic frost. The only surviving olive tree stood on top of the mountain grove “Monahi Elia” or in English “The Lonely Olive Tree”. This last standing olive tree was grafted and replanted throughout sixteen groves across the mountain. Our family is proud to offer you the first cold pressed extra virgin olive oil from the highest elevation in Sparta, Greece.
