Skipper Farms

Farm Fresh fruits, vegetables, pumpkins, melons, flowers, and more

And other news is historic Skipper family farms has been a making staple for over a century. On Friday, the farm added Christmas trees to the list of items that visitors can buy and enjoy this holiday season. 41 NBC's Taylor Gilchrist has more. This is our first day, first year selling trees. Skipper family farms has been operating since 1912, but Christmas 2024 is the start of a new tradition. Families from Middle Georgia spent their Black Friday shopping for live Christmas trees. We're just here for them to help them have a great day and just to be a small part of their Christmas. Neil Skipper and his family have sold pecans, coffee and several other items for years on their making farm, but not Christmas trees until now. Day one brought out people looking for their first live tree as well as those who buy them every year. Live trees I think are a lot more fun because Evan Jordan is a University of Richmond student who says he wanted to help his family pick out their Christmas tree before returning back to school. The farm emphasized making the process fun for family members of all ages, which Jordan says made for a good first impression. A farm looks great. They've got a really fun They got So it's been a good time. 700 Christmas trees were available for purchase on the farm at the time of opening. Skipper says it took three years of hard work from family and friends to make it all possible. Finishing up the gift box, coming up with the procedures, having what we think we need in place to make it easy for everybody to come out. Skipper says his family and the local students that volunteer at the farm work hard to make the process easy for people with varying levels of experience with live trees. Part of his pitch to first timers is that live trees are healthy for the environment as people can use them for many purposes and free up landfill space. They can be mulched for mulch, they can be put in ponds for fish beds. So Skipper is hopeful the overall experience helps shoppers have a merrier Christmas and that the Christmas tree farm grows in the coming years. Places for them to take pictures, make memories, start traditions and just where to last a lifetime and In making, Taylor Gilchrist, 41 NBC News. Now the farm will be open each Friday, Saturday and Sunday through December 15th so hurry on out there. Christmas tree prices range from 50 to 120 dollars depending on the size.
