At your Vacaville Farmers’ Market, the produce is always fresh, always seasonal, and always provided by your local farmers and ranchers.
The Vacaville Farmers’ Market is open Saturdays, May through October. It’s the best place to shop for seasonal fruits and veggies, as well as other local goods like honey, eggs, or artisan cheese! The Vacaville Farmers’ Market is operated by the Pacific Coast Farmers Market Association, a non-profit organization that operates multiple farmers markets throughout the Bay Area. PCFMA’s mission is to empower local farmers and ranchers to be successful in their communities, while providing those communities with access to healthier, better food. All PCFMA markets accept EBT (Cal-Fresh) and WIC FMNP (Women, Infants and Children Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program coupons). Stay up to date on the market by “liking” the Facebook page, and signing up for the monthly newsletter on the PCFMA website below.
the back of the farmers market has extended its run and expanded their vendors all trying to help out their community damaged by the recent fires. Dina Kupfer is live there with more details for us this morning. Hey Dina, what's going on? Hi, yes, So we are in downtown back of over right now and it is a beautiful day even though there's a little bit of smoke in the area. But we're talking about the farmers market extending until October 24th. They had to change a little bit because of what happened with COVID. But as you can see here, there'still some y Oh, hey, thank you, thank you. We have a lot of y So this is Ben Lyans. Ben is the owner of Lockwood Farms and you are one of the vendors here at the farmers market every week. So what are you making today? We got some chuchitos on an old disk that I welded up and made into a walk here. And then I have some, Wow I will tell you I've got my mouth water and I can smell those peppers through the mask so you have a farm here in the back of the area right outside City Limits talk about what you all grow out there and how long you've been in the area. So we've been in the area since 2010 and became certified organic 2012 and started commercially trying to make a living as a farmer and I became a farmer out of necessity because I really didn't want to go hungry and from the debacle that happened in 2010 so this has been a pretty good run here in 2020. Well you might be one of the only people to say 2020 has been a good run but Yeah sure so we're here every Saturday we're here from 12 to 1 we just extended for two more weeks we're gonna be here till October 24th we got a bunch of farmers in there in here strawberries we got some prepackaged stuff we got some tamales h Totally yeah absolutely okay we also want to bring in Brooke Fox real quickly who is the executive director of downtown Vacaville so Brooke we also want to talk about a tote project coming up in the next hour we'll have much more on this but this is an important piece of the farmers market. Correct this is our signature tote that we just commissioned it's featuring local artists by Richard Rico and what we wanted to do was kind of it's been a difficult season for us at the farmers market so we wanted to kind of commemorate this season and show our support so went out and got some social businesses to sponsor pick up some great art and so the proceeds will be going toward downtown Vacaville to support the businesses and we're gonna talk more about that next half hour okay sounds Yes this is for the Ag and Art film festival they'll be showing a film called Found in Korea and all the proceeds are gonna be going to the fire victims for the LNU fire and I just wanted to give a shout out to farmer chef who donated the grass fed lamb chorizo for the shishito peppers. Yeah oh and it looks so good okay we're out of time guys thank you so much coming up in the next hour we'll talk more about a local business who had their hand in the tote guys back over to you we'll have the information on our website. Sounds good. Thanks Tina.
