The moment I decided to become a coach, I was sitting in my office in San Francisco. I had just been released from a meeting with HR where I was told that I was underperforming. And as a high achiever, as a person who has always been able to actualize anything that she wanted, this was ego crushing. I felt so much shame and disappointment. I realized that the job reduction that they had given me didn't even allow me to be seen in my gifts, in my talents. And I knew in that moment I had a choice. I could continue to live the life that they had planned for me, or I could truly give myself permission to be seen, to be heard, to be understood. And in that moment, I chose to do the latter, to become a coach, to support others who felt isolated, who felt out of alignment, who did not remember in moments who they were.
