Cliff's is a family owned and operated business that has served the Castro neighborhood of San Francisco since 1936. We have everything from hammers & nails to boas & tiaras. We are the home of the hard to find.
Well, I guess unusual is a matter of perspective. We have everything from paint and hammers to bows and tiaras. Yeah, we My mom and dad are here running this store. I'm the general manager and we're on the day-to-day operations, all the personnel issues, and my husband also works here. His name is Rich and he works down on the sales floor. It was the original castor of theater. God, we just get strange people all the time. People wearing tin foil to keep the aliens away. Harvey Milk was a very good friend of ours when he ran for office and didn't make it the first time around, but he opened up a business here in the neighborhood. I'd have to say the largest challenge is dealing with the city politics. San Francisco, just in the last few years, has passed so many laws regulating small business and requiring us to do so many things that had already been part of our benefit package. We have customers that have been coming here since before I was born and they watched me grow up and knowing that I'm still servicing these same customers and that we are meeting their day-to-day needs and not forcing them out of the city to the big boxes and everything else. And I have employees that have been here since I was a baby also and knowing that we can maintain that relationship that we can treat our employees well.
