PGO Scooters was founded in 1964 in Taiwan and began to design and manufacture high quality scooters. In 1972, recognizing PGO's ability to produce superior quality machines, Piaggio Italy entered into a strategic alliance with PGO where they were brought into the Piaggio inner circle to manufacture parts and components for Vespa scooters and to offer technology and design solutions as their partner. This alliance lasted until 1996 when the PGO brand was acquired by Motive Power Industry (MPI) which is an entity owned by a large Taiwan conglomerate owning manufacturing facilities, banks, and high rise real estate in Taipe and other location throughout Taiwan. In 2006, seeing an expanding market opportunity in off-road vehicles and a massive expansion in the number of enthusiasts worldwide enjoying off-road powersports, MPI began to design its first off-road four wheel machine. After years of R&D and a rigorous effort to create a truly unique and different machine, the Rage R600i was born. Several years of worldwide testing followed through 2011 when MPI began to distribute the Rage in limited numbers throughout Europe. The Rage was endurance tested in several locations from the deserts of Morocco to the incredible off-road playgrounds in the Southern California deserts of Glamis and its surrounding riding areas. It was proven to be strong, and held up against all the rigors of its endurance testing and market testing. PGO is the undisputed leader in Taiwan’s very vibrant powersports manufacturing industry.
