We allow the grapes to take center stage in every barrel, bottle and glass of our wines," says Brian Fleury, and his boutique winery reflects that approach. A successful Bay Area businessman who brought his family to the Napa Valley ten years ago, he turned his passion for collecting fine wine into a passion for making it. Fleury Estate Winery now owns 50 acres spanning three vineyards in three appellations and at three elevations: Rutherford, St. Helena and Howell Mountain. Its small Rutherford facility produces and sells out of 3,000 cases a year by winery sales only, without the use of distributors. Brian is a self-taught winemaker who learned the craft by hiring various mentors and working alongside them. Clearly, he's learned well, since his wines are in such great demand. Current releases include a Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, a Zinfandel/Cabernet blend, three Cabernet Sauvignons and a Port. The Fleury flagship wine is "Passionne," a Bordeaux-style blend that is always the first to sell out. With its elegantly rustic feel, Fleury Estate Winery offers its guests an unusually intimate wine-tasting experience. "Every tasting done at this winery is in a private salon setting among the barrels," explains Brian. "No one leaves Fleury Estate Winery without being provided a barrel sample of our future releases.
I fell in love with wine probably when I was 21, 22, and Napa Valley wines were what I've always been interested in and had the opportunity to relocate my family and reinvent myself in the direction we wanted to go and that included the wine business. So that's what we started in 1998. We moved here. Were a very small family owned and operated. So it's mainly myself, my mom and my dad that are assisting with the day to day. We're that small of a family business that we all wear. Our title is hat rack is what we say. So we all wear whatever hat you need that day. We are an estate owned property. That means we don't sell or buy any of our fruit. We So strictly 100% of that specific vineyard. Many wineries and labels that say Cabernet Sauvignon are not 100% cab. We have four different cabs right now that are 100% cab from our three different vineyards, which we're very proud of. We do own the winery, the production, the ability to sell or the wine, bottle the wine, and grow the grapes and make sure that we can consistently make the style of wine that our customers enjoy. We do about 2,500 cases, which is a little over about 100 barrels of wine. By only doing 2,500 cases, we're dealing with a lot smaller lot that we manage. So it's not difficult to go through and make sure we're tasting and evaluating each barrel. Our most high end or most limited wine would be a single vineyard 100% cab called 1010. What do we got here? It's going to be some 211010. 2,0211010. I love it. Right out of the barrel? Yes, sir. This is 1010, which is up at our ranch in St. Helena. It's at 1,010 feet, 100% cab. We love being able to experience what the finished product is tasting It's got great structure and everything we're looking for, so we're very happy. Cheers. Beautiful. Good job. Thank you. We really stand behind the family name, the wines, and we have a good reputation for wines that taste delicious, so never want to compromise them.
