Hi, I'm Luz Magana founder of Luz’s Artistic Creations, and I want to welcome you to our website. First things first, I have not invented this beautiful art of Artisan Gelatin , in fact this technique is very popular in Mexico and has been passed from generation to generation and through the side of my husband's family since 1940. Like many of us, I always enjoyed gelatin and its wide variety of flavors, forms, and colors since I was little, but never really grew my interest in this until I learned this technique through my mother in law Guadalupe Pimentel, who in turn, learned her technique from her grandmother. For generations, grandmothers have thought this art medium to young aspiring artists in Mexico. However, just because I have not invented this art form does not mean that I (and new artists) cannot develop it further. After learning traditional recipes and techniques, I went and experimented with my own ideas. I'm self-taught to a certain extent, but I have successfully conveyed my knowledge to new generations of artists. In fact once I teach my students the basics and how to approach a new project, they begin to develop their own forms, styles and techniques. After taking the initiative to invest my heart and soul into the art form I feel I've created a voice and a unique style. We deliver to restaurants, special events, and have taught hundreds how to do this beautiful art form in the IE and LA county. Creating and teaching are my passions.
