North Charleston Farmers Market

And we are beginning to see more farmers markets open for the season. The latest one in North Charleston. Count on 2's Temple Rookie has been following this story all morning. In Temple, the scene is going to look pretty different in a few hours. Now you don't see too much now, but this is where the North Charleston farmers market is happening. We're right outside the Felix Davis Community Center. You can see a sign posted for it right up on that lamppost. This grass area will be covered with food trucks, vendors, local produce and more. This is a family event and I'm told there will be extra inflatable setup today to keep the kids busy while you shop around and see what local vendors have to offer. I spoke with a deputy director for the city of North Charleston who explains that this really isn't a tourism driven farmers market. She says this is all about community. It's a place for people to come and gather. Obviously we have all the kids activities and the live music and also we're promoting healthy eating by eating fresh and local produce. So really we just encourage people to come on out, meet their neighbors, get some good food and enjoy a day out in the outdoors. The North Charleston farmers market will take place every Thursday from 3pm to 7pm outside the Felix Davis Community Center. Today is the first day for the farmers market, but it will last through October 31st.
