A milestone birthday for a long time employee at the Niskeuna co-op. Harry Noyes turned 90 yesterday and today he was back at work. Jackie Slater learned his secret to longevity. 90-year-old Harry Noyes caught off guard by a television camera and a surprise birthday cake and song. Happy birthday to you. His story is a long one. He spent time at GE, served in the Navy, was married and has four children. In 1986 he retired from a 32-year career with Fryhoffer's. He's worked here at the Niskeuna co-op on and off since then. He was the ambassador for the co-op. If you had any question, he didn'tell you where it was. He would take you to where it was. Don Biskrove brought Harry on as an assistant manager. After eight years with that title, Harry went part-time. Every time is good, but don't just figure you're going to go home and sit, watch TV all the time. Because it doesn't work because you're just going downhill. Harry took a break to care for his wife when she became ill, but after she passed away, he came back. I gotta do something. I'm going crazy. I gotta be doing something. What would you I don't believe it. I don't And so he did. Two and a half years later, the love here for Harry is going strong. He's really one of the most important people I think here at the co-op. Now he's keeping his mind and his body sharp by manning the dairy department every Tuesday and Friday. Hi, how are you doing? With no signs of stopping anytime soon. I'll be here as long as I can work. I'll be here, that's for sure. Reporting in Nisquna, Jackie Slater.
