In 2003 we decided to start our own small business after Jeff was laid off from his corporate job in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The idea was to start a indoor mini golf and fun center in nearby Menomonie. And the rest is history. Actually Brenda was 5 months pregnant and Jeff went back to corporate America looking to be treated better by the world of big business. In December of that year he took a job with a large clothing firm based in Dodgeville Wisconsin as a Call Center Staffing Analyst. So off to the bright lights of Dodgeville. In February of 2004 the new company had a huge lay off and somehow Jeff survived the cuts. But the event brought back memories of how close to the edge they were living. So Jeff scoured the internet for a fall back position and came upon the glamourous and exciting career opportunities in mobile outdoor Kettlecorn Production and sales. And the rest is history. Shoot ahead 13 yrs. Jeff is now a financial analyst for the call center in this company, background Jeff hates math and financial math most of all, the company had lurched through many changes in direction and personnel. Misery is a minute by minute partner in his office day after day. Then a miracle happens...their house catches fire. Why is this a miracle you ask? Because after living in a hotel for 4 months with two adults, 2 teenagers, a dog and a snake both Brenda and Jeff quit their jobs and cast their net onto the seas. Brenda takes a steady salaried job to make sure there is money coming in and medical coverage. Jeff sits on a corner selling Kettlecorn day in day out while percolating in his mind the genesis of the idea that has become The Pop Place! And the rest is history....starting in September 2017.
